This magnificent vintage cocktail ring features a trio of old mine cut diamonds mounted horizontally on its centre and two rub-over set cushion cut blue sapphires, mounted vertically, one on either side of the centre stone. The centre diamond is securely held by four wide claws, each adorned with a rose cut diamond, and the side diamonds are both rub-over set in open back settings. What makes this piece truly spectacular is the intricate 18 carat yellow gold open work mount, whose final touch is given by ten rose cut diamonds, two set on the outer side of each sapphire and three set on either side of the shank. The diamonds come to an approximate total weight of 1.40ct and the two sapphires to approximately 2.00ct combined. The ring measures 20mm in height at its front and graduates down to 2.4mm at the back of the shank. London, 1963. UK finger size 'O'.
