Magnificent Lapis Lazuli gets its incredible saturated blue colour from the mineral lazurite, with pyrite giving it its characteristic gold coloured flecks, and calcite its white seams. Afghanistan has long been a historic source of Lapis Lazuli, and it continues to be one of its few sources today.
