This beautifully detailed antique seal fob is crafted in 14 carat yellow gold and set with a bloodstone intaglio, engraved with an elaborate family coat of arms.
The deep green bloodstone is naturally flecked with small touches of red and has been finely carved with a heraldic shield at its centre, complete with a crest above and a motto running beneath. The level of detail is wonderful, with even the smallest elements of the coat of arms carefully picked out in the stone.
Surrounding the intaglio is a warm yellow gold frame, leading into an ornate fob with fluted and scroll details throughout. A traditional suspension loop sits at the top, allowing the piece to be worn as a pendant on a chain or added to an Albert chain.
Full of character and history, this intricate piece is a beautiful example of an antique personal seal, with the richly coloured bloodstone and decorative gold work making it particularly special.
The bloodstone seal itself measures approximately 1.7 × 1.5cm, while the complete fob pendant measures approximately 3.2cm in length, including the bale. It weighs 10.45 grams. The fob pendant has been tested and confirmed as 14 carat gold, while the bale has been confirmed as 9 carat gold.
