Try to go back in time to the Early Victorian era and imagine how many wonderful stories this spectacular piece has to tell.
Meticulously crafted in 10 carat yellow gold, this ornate vinaigrette locket features a deeply hand carved floral frame and engine turned panels, the frontal one with inscribed initials ‘AI’ and the back one which opens to reveal a beautiful floral grille. The interior grille is wonderfully designed with a pierced floral motif and hinges open in order to put a scent soaked sponge beneath it. A magnificent piece that showcases classic Early Victorian gold working techniques such as repoussé to the frame and jump ring, engine turning to the opening compartments and open work motifs to the interior grille. A true piece of art, popular in the early part of the nineteenth century, that it can be used either for its original purpose, or to store a sentimental keepsake of your own choice such as a lock of hair. Measuring 4.2cm in height and 3cm in diameter, with a gross weight of 11.93 grams. Tested 10 carat gold.
