Dating to the Art Deco period, this unusual cocktail ring is crafted in 18 carat gold and features an ingenious hinged design that allows the appearance of the ring to be changed.
The fixed central band is channel set with eleven square cut synthetic rubies along one half and eleven square cut synthetic sapphires along the other. Turning the ring on the finger brings either the rich red rubies or deep blue sapphires to the front.
Attached to either side are two tapered hinged bands, each set with seven graduated eight cut diamonds, estimated to a total combined weight of approximately 0.35ct. The hinged construction allows the diamond bands to move around the central ring, framing either the ruby or sapphire side.
Hand engraved 18CT, the ring dates to the 1920s and was made in England. It weighs 6.45 grams and is a UK finger size 'M 1/2'.
