Introducing a wonderful late Victorian five-stone ring, dating to 1899, meticulously crafted in warm 18 carat yellow gold and featuring a beautifully handcrafted fluted gallery, a characteristic detail of the period.
The piece is set with three charming oval opals, with the central stone being the largest of the three, displaying soft flashes of green and pastel colour that shift subtly as the ring moves in the light. The opals are interspersed with a pair of old mine cut diamonds, estimated to weight approximately 0.25ct combined, while the smaller oval opals complete the design at either end. The contrast between the lively sparkle of the hand cut diamonds and the gentle glow of the opals gives the ring a distinctive charm.
Formed from a repeating series of scalloped arches, the pierced gallery beneath the stones adds depth and detail to the design while allowing light to pass through the gemstones, enhancing their natural beauty.
The setting sits comfortably on the finger and presents an elegant profile when viewed from the side, reflecting the thoughtful craftsmanship of the late nineteenth century.
