With its bold domed profile and finely detailed platinum mount, this diamond cocktail ring captures the confident statement jewellery of the 1940s.
Centred by a cluster of nine semi-old cut diamonds of mixed sizes, with a larger principal stone surrounded by smaller diamonds, the substantial bombé top rises approximately 12mm from the finger. Beneath, an intricate open work gallery reveals the exceptional craftsmanship behind its sculptural form.
Borders of additional diamonds frame the central cluster, while each shoulder is set with three further stones, comprising a larger box-set diamond flanked by two smaller diamonds, creating an elegant transition to the central cluster. Together, the diamonds have an approximate combined weight of 0.65ct.
One of the ring's most distinctive features is the fluted platinum dome beneath the cluster, a beautifully sculptural detail that defines its character.
Stamped PLAT, the ring is a spectacular example of English jewellery from the 1940s. It combines the gentle sparkle of semi-old cut diamonds with the bold proportions and architectural styling of the period, resulting in a piece with real presence on the hand that feels both distinctive and remarkably easy to wear.
Finally, the piece weighs 9.50 grams and measures a UK finger size 'O', but could be altered upon request.
